Factory International, now branded as Avia Studios, is the new home of the Manchester International Festival. The venue is a world-class facility which has been built to be very flexible to host a wide variety of events. Flexibly was of upmost importance when establishing the design brief, and this brought about a level of complexity.

Due to our existing relationships with Manchester City Council, we were approached to assist the client team to understand their requirements and to convert them into a design brief.

BMS Consulting were appointed in two roles on The Factory project, initially as client advisorin terms of scoping the BMS and wider electronic systems such as security systems and access control; and then we were subsequently engaged as the project CommissioningManager.

Our Commissioning Manager role was a bespoke appointment which allowed us to both assist the contract delivery team in coordinating commissioning activities and also witness testing systems to ensure their correct operation in terms of the design intent.

The facility is an incredibly important asset to the Manchester events industry, and we are very proud to have been appointed to oversee the commissioning process and to have inputted to determining the design scope.
